Coronavirus Update

Covid Guidelines: From the Archbishop's Council.

Taking into account public health advice, the need to encourage vaccinations ( and boosters ) and the call in charity to safeguard one another, the following will be the guidance for the Archdiocese from receipt of this advice:

1. Face coverings are strongly recommended for all those who come into church for all Services.

2. There should be the opportunity offered to sanitise hands before and after entry to church.

3. There should be a return to the normal mode of celebrating Mass and other liturgies.
(Holy Communion will remain under one kind only (the Sacred Host.)

4. There should be no need for any social distancing in churches, but if a section can be offered that would be a sensitive gesture.

5. Good ventilation should continue (balancing the need for church heating at this time.)

Holy water can be restored. The sign of peace can be restored. The use of books and other worship aids (e.g. hymn books) can be restored.

Ministers of the Eucharist should sanitise before and after administering the Sacrament.

Visits to the housebound and sick can be restored (if they have not yet been ) just bearing in mind the need to ensure that infection is not spread.

These guidelines will be reviewed again prior to Holy Week.
