The pre-wedding paperwork

Before your wedding can take place, you will be asked to sign The Prenuptial Form. This contains all the details that are necessary for organizing your wedding and those needed to be recorded in our registers. It includes a declaration that you will be asked to sign to say you are free to marry and that you intend to do so according to the laws of the Church. It is important that you understand this declaration carefully and if there is anything you do not understand about it, please do not hesitate to ask us about it. By the declaration you will declare solemnly that you are entering marriage freely and of your own accord; that you understand the chief ends of marriage, and its rights and obligations; that you understand that the marriage bond is permanent and indissoluble; that there are no conditions or reservations to your consent; that you intend to have your children baptized and raised in the Christian faith. In the case of a Catholic marrying a non-Catholic, the Catholic partner (only) will also be asked to declare that they will do all they can to preserve their Catholic Faith and avoid all dangers of falling away from it and that, within the unity of your marriage, he or she will do all they can to bring your children up in that Faith.
