Reflecting upon "Dies Domine"
Apostolic Letter of Pope John Paul II

THE LORD'S DAY: A DAY FOR SHARING.

"Sunday has been a day of sharing with the poor since early apostolic times: "On the first day of the week, each of you is to put aside and save what extra you have"."(Dies Domini DD 70)

The early Christians saw the connection between celebrating the Eucharist and sharing with those who were poor. "What good is it" said Saint John Chrysostom "if the Eucharistic table is filled with gold chalices when Christ himself, our sister and brother, is dying of hunger?"

For Reflection This Week:

  • Who are the ones in your community and family who are most in need of care and support? What can you do to help them?
