A day for justice

Preparing for our Diocesan Assembly

Reflecting upon "Dies Domine"
Apostolic Letter of Pope John Paul II

"It should not be forgotten that for many work is oppressive because of long hours and poor working conditions. Humans can be seen to exploit humans causing injustice and exploitation." (Dies Domini DD 66)

For many centuries the Church has called for Sunday to be a day of rest, especially for workers and servants. It is the call of all Christians to seek justice for all; jobs for the jobless and time off for those forced to work too hard for wages that are too low.

For Reflection This Week:

  • Do you have difficulty in finding "free time" on Sunday? Is this because of the choices you make or because of your work?
